As a search firm owner, the greatest investment you make is in people. For decades, our industry has hired young recruiters with an assumed pact: the owner will provide a reasonable draw/salary, benefits, office set-up, solid training and continuous mentorship. The hire would come early, stay late, be on the phone most of the day, attend regular training meetings and do whatever it took to build a solid recruiting practice.
For many reasons, the market has changed. We have adapted with internet, email, job boards, LinkedIn, and AI. For over a decade, some firms have utilized an international workforce to augment their team to some degree. However, I believe this is the future of our industry, where every US search professional has a person or team of international distanced based team members to support them.
International hiring opens up an abundant workforce who have solid work ethic, willingness to plan and execute that plan daily with vigor, hungry to learn, willing to “pay their dues” and realistic income expectations while learning the business. The results have been incredible. Not every hire will be successful just as not every American you hire will make it. The cost/benefit analysis of hiring people through Hikinex is far lower risk and far greater reward. Every firm now has an internet connection, an ATS, webpage, LI and using some form of AI. The early explorers have paved the way for the pioneers.
